Admission Requirements for Foreign Nationals After arriving in the Republic of Belarus foreign applicants are requested to perform the procedure of enrolling at the P.O.Sukhoi State Technical University of Gomel and also all relevant procedures for drawing out documents for legal staying in the territory of Republic of Belarus. 1. Procedure of Enrollment at the Preparatory (Pre-University) Department 1. Taking out obligatory health insurance policy. in the Republic of Belarus (till expiration of the Entry Visa) at the institutions for internal affairs of the Republic of Belarus (with the assistance of the International Department)
Concluding a Contract for Studying
To conclude the Contract for studying each applicant is to submit the following documents
Health Certificate (in the original) confirming the possibility of studying
for the applicant in climatic conditions of the Republic of Belarus and at educational institutions of this type and Certificate of HIV laboratory test (negative) issued by
an official institution of public health of applicant's home country.
The documents in foreign languages listed should be submitted with their translation in Russian enclosed notarially attested. For under age applicants (under 18) it is necessary to submit an Agreement or an Application with Agreement of parents to concluding a Contract for Studying and Contract for hiring housing by the applicant. The Agreement must be presented in Russian and notarially attested. 4. Paying tuition fees is to be effected within 3 days after concluding the Contract for Studying 5. Concluding a Contract for hiring housing at the University hostel. 6. Undergoing obligatory medical examination by the assignment of the University at a clinic of Gomel confirming the absence of contra-indication for studying at the University. In case medical examination data in applicant's Health Certificate obtained outside the Republic of Belarus does not conform to the medical examination data at Gomel clinic the applicant is required to leave the Republic of Belarus within a ten days period. 7. Registration at the institutions for internal affairs of the Republic of Belarus for the permit for temporary residence for the period to 1 year but not over the period of validity of the obligatory health insurance policy (with the assistance of the International Department).
Preparatory Department of the University offers Pre-University (Preparatory) Course of studies for students including the course of the Russian language and foundation courses in other subjects in accordance with the speciality selected which they plan to get at the University
Enrollment at the Preparatory Department with making groups of 8-15 students is conducted from August 15 to November 1. Period of studies -10 months. Tuition fees at the Preparatory Department are paid in Belarusian rubles as per the rate of exchange of National Bank of the Republic of Belarus for the date of payment after concluding a personal Contract for Studying between a foreign national and the University. After successful exams foreign nationals get a Certificate of Preparatory Department completion and are enrolled on the competition basis at the University to study in the speciality selected according to the profile of studying at the Preparatory Department. II. Procedure of enrollment of foreign nationals in the first year of studying at the University 1. Taking out an obligatory health insurance policy and registration for the permit for temporary staying (with the assistance of the International Department) for the period of interviewing*(see note * below).
2. Submitting to the International Department the following documents
The documents in foreign languages listed should be submitted with their translation in Russian enclosed notarially attested.
*Interviewing for foreign nationals having no Certificates of completing
Preparatory Department (Course) of higher educational institutions of the
Republic of Belarus, but competent enough in the Russian language is
conducted to check competence in the Russian language and other two subjects
Questions and tests for interviewing are prepared by the Entrance Examination Board in accordance with the program for entrance examinations. The decision about enrolling is taken by the Entrance Examination Board according to the interview results. Applicants who get 0 (zero) grade in one of the subjects are not admitted to the University. When number of places at the University is limited the decision of enrollment is taken by the Entrance Examination Board on a competition basis. Applicants who are not enrolled in the first year of studies at the University after the interview can be enrolled at the Preparatory Department. 3. Concluding a Contract for Studying. For under age applicants (under 18) it is necessary to submit an Agreement or an Application with Agreement of parents to concluding the Contract for Studying and Contract for hiring housing by the applicant. 5. International students are provided with hostel accommodation if available. 6. Undergoing obligatory medical examination at a clinic of Gomel (by the assignment of the University) confirming the absence of contra-indication for studying at the University. In case medical examination data in applicant's Health Certificate obtained outside the Republic of Belarus does not conform to the medical examination data at Gomel clinic the applicant is required to leave the Republic of Belarus within a ten days period. 7. Legalizing the enrollment at the University. Foreign nationals obtain the status of the University students from the time of signing the order of their enrollment. 8. Registration at the institutions for internal affairs of the Republic of Belarus for the permit for temporary residence for the period to 1 year but not over the period of validity of obligatory health insurance policy (with the assistance of the International Department) . Students are provided with instruction according to the program of the I level (Diploma) by specialized departments in the specialities of the University Faculties. After graduating from the University the students get a Diploma of Higher Education of international standard. The University graduates showing excellence in studies may continue their studies at a Postgraduate Department for Master or Candidate of Sciences (approximately equivalent to Ph.D.) Degrees.
